2020 brought fear and uncertainty in our lives, but it also taught us to be courageous, to accept and adapt, to believe in the preciousness of life. Everything happens for a reason, and I, as a practitioner of Nicheren Buddhism, believe that probably the pandemic came to give a break to the speed of our life and elevate our life condition from the mundane to really think what and where and why.
The news reports everyday were very depressing and the challenges great. An enormous loss of human lives, paused progress and career goals and economic crisis. Each one to his own – how to manage.
But we still found our own solace – our own zones. Unable to meet friends and family, we found newer ways of connecting, we created good bonds, we found newer ways to emerge, we experienced nature in its beauty and we also created our own spaces to fulfill long lost wishes.
So let’s bid good bye to 2020 and welcome 2021, the first year of this decade with joy and happiness, with new hope and vigour and the courage to reshape our lives and the world for the better.
